TL;DR: We found 23 HVAC trade shows and conferences worth knowing about between November 2026 and December 2027: 18 with confirmed dates and 5 big recurring events whose 2027 dates have not been announced yet. The biggest is AHR Expo, January 25-27, 2027, at McCormick Place in Chicago, where the organizer expects 1,900 exhibitors and 50,000 attendees. For residential business owners, the two events built around running the company are Service World Expo (Nov 9-11, 2026, Las Vegas) and the ACCA Conference (Mar 10-12, 2027, National Harbor). 10 of the 18 dated events land between January and April, so book hotels early.

Every date and city in this guide was checked against the organizer’s own website in October 2026. Where we could only find a date on a third-party listing, the event card says so. Events change, so confirm on the official site before you buy a plane ticket.

This list is written for HVAC contractors: owners deciding whether a trip is worth three days off the schedule, service managers looking for training, and techs trying to see new equipment before they have to install it. Distributor and engineering events are included because they shape what lands on your supply house shelf, but each card says plainly who should go.

Chart: 18 hvac events with confirmed dates between November 2026 and December 2027, by month. Mar 2027 is the busiest month (5 events), and 10 of the 18 fall between January and April 2027.

For contractors: January through March is packed. AHR Expo, the ASHRAE Winter Conference, and the MEP Innovation Conference all overlap in the last week of January, and MCAA and ACCA sit back to back in early March. If you want two trips in 2027, a common pattern is one equipment show (AHR or InstallerSHOW) and one business conference (ACCA or Service World).

Which HVAC Event Fits Your Company?

Not every show is for every contractor. The quickest filter is what you want to come home with.

  • New equipment, tools, and software in one place: AHR Expo, or InstallerSHOW New York if you are in the tri-state area and want a free ticket.
  • Help running and growing a residential company: Service World Expo, the ACCA Conference, and the one-day ACCA Smart Tech Summit for AI and software questions.
  • Commercial mechanical and sheet metal: MSCA (service side), the MCAA Convention, the MEP Innovation Conference, and the SMACNA Convention.
  • Technical depth, codes, and continuing education: the ASHRAE Winter and Annual Conferences, plus the new ASHRAE Data Center and AI Integration Conference.
  • Training your own people: the HVAC Excellence education conference.
  • Specialty work: IIAR for industrial and natural refrigerant systems, and the National Home Performance Conference for efficiency and weatherization.

Chart: the 18 dated HVAC events in this guide by type: 6 contractor business conference, 4 trade show / expo, 4 technical / engineering, 2 training / home performance, 2 distributor.

Chart: host states for the 18 dated events. 8 states host at least one, led by California (4), Texas (4), Florida (3).

For contractors: travel cost matters as much as the ticket. Texas, California, Nevada, and Florida host most of these events, so a Texas or West Coast shop can often drive or take one short flight instead of committing to a cross-country trip.

HVAC Events Still Ahead in 2026 (November and December)

Five events are still on the calendar before the end of 2026. Two of them, MSCA and HARDI, were already full or waitlisted in places when we checked, so act soon if you want in.

One-day summit

ACCA Smart Tech Summit (Nov 2, 2026, Frisco, TX)

DatesNov 2, 2026
LocationFrisco, TX
OrganizerACCA
CostSee ACCA event page

Who should go: Owners and operations managers of residential and light commercial HVAC companies who keep hearing about AI tools and field service software but have not picked anything yet.

Why it is worth the trip: ACCA describes it as a hands-on, contractor-driven summit on applying AI, field service software, and smart tools to daily operations, and attendees leave with a practical 90-day plan. One day, so it costs you a Monday, not a week.

Conference

MSCA Annual Education Conference (Nov 8-11, 2026, Austin, TX)

DatesNov 8-11, 2026
LocationMarriott Austin Downtown, Austin, TX
OrganizerMechanical Service Contractors of America (MCAA)
CostSee MCAA event page

Who should go: Owners, service managers, and service sales leads at commercial mechanical service companies, the side of the business that lives on maintenance agreements and repeat service calls.

Why it is worth the trip: The organizer calls it the only industry conference built specifically for service companies. Sessions cover management, personnel, finance, service technology, training, and recruiting, plus a products exhibit and peer group discussions.

As of October 2026 the official page marks the program as full, so ask MCAA about a waitlist before you book travel.

Who should go: Owners, general managers, and sales or marketing leads at residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical companies, especially shops between roughly 5 and 100 trucks that are trying to grow.

Why it is worth the trip: This is the 11th annual show at Caesars Forum, and it is built around running and growing a residential service business rather than equipment specs. Expect sessions on sales, pricing, hiring, and marketing, and a floor full of software and service vendors you can compare in one afternoon.

DatesNov 17, 2026
LocationPasadena Convention Center, Pasadena, CA
OrganizerInstitute of Heating and Air Conditioning Industries (IHACI)
CostSee official site

Who should go: Contractors, technicians, and facility managers in Southern California who want to see equipment and talk to distributors without flying anywhere.

Why it is worth the trip: One day (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at the Pasadena Convention Center, with seminars and a full exhibitor list. IHACI is a nonprofit trade association that has been around since 1948, so the room is mostly local businesses you can actually keep working with after the show.

Distributor conference

HARDI Annual Conference "Frontier" (Dec 7-10, 2026, San Diego, CA)

DatesDec 7-10, 2026
LocationSan Diego, CA
OrganizerHeating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI)
CostPaid, distributor and vendor focused

Who should go: HVACR distributors, manufacturers, and the vendors who sell to them. Most contractors should skip it, but large contractors with buying-group or distribution ambitions may find it useful.

Why it is worth the trip: This is where your suppliers plan their next year. Knowing what distributors are talking about (inventory, pricing, the equipment mix) helps you read the market. The booth program and Solutions Center were already on a waitlist in October 2026.

Winter 2027: AHR Expo Week in Chicago and Tampa

The last week of January is the biggest week of the HVAC year. Three events overlap, two of them in Chicago.

Technical conference

ASHRAE Winter Conference (Jan 23-27, 2027, Chicago, IL)

DatesJan 23-27, 2027
LocationChicago, IL
OrganizerASHRAE
CostPaid ASHRAE conference badge

Who should go: Mechanical engineers, design-build contractors, and commercial estimators who need to stay current on standards, codes, and system design.

Why it is worth the trip: Technical sessions, ALI courses, and committee meetings run right next to AHR Expo, and ASHRAE notes that a paid conference badge also gets you into the Expo. If you need continuing education hours and want to walk the AHR floor, this is the efficient way to do both in one trip.

Who should go: Practically everyone in HVACR: residential and commercial contractors, engineers, distributors, facility managers, and anyone buying equipment, tools, or software in 2027.

Why it is worth the trip: The organizer expects 1,900 exhibitors, 50,000 attendees, and 350 speakers at McCormick Place, which makes it the single biggest HVACR event of the year. If you can only attend one show, this is the one where every major equipment line, controls company, and software vendor is in the same building for three days.

MEP Innovation Conference 2027 official website, October 2026

Who should go: Technology, operations, and VDC leads at mechanical, electrical, plumbing, service, and sheet metal contracting firms.

Why it is worth the trip: SMACNA, MCAA, and NECA run it together, and contractors from all three associations lead the sessions. Expect roundtables and hands-on vendor demos focused on productivity tools you can use on real jobs.

It overlaps AHR Expo almost exactly, so most firms will need to choose one or split the team.

Dates come from an HVAC Excellence announcement to educators. There was no standalone 2027 event page yet in October 2026.

Why it is worth the trip: The 49th annual IIAR conference combines technical sessions with a heavy equipment expo at the Tampa Convention Center. For a commercial refrigeration contractor moving into natural refrigerant systems, this is the specialist event.

Who should go: HVAC contractors who also do insulation, air sealing, energy audits, or utility rebate program work.

The Whole Year on One Timeline

A single view of every dated event, useful for spotting overlaps before you commit to anything.

Chart: every dated event in this guide on one timeline, November 2026 (orange, still in 2026) through December 2027 (navy). The first is ACCA Smart Tech Summit on Nov 2, 2026; the last is HARDI Annual Conference 2027 on Dec 6-9, 2027.

How to Get Your Money Back From a Trade Show Trip

A three-day show can easily cost a small contractor several thousand dollars once you add flights, hotel, and the jobs nobody ran while you were gone. A few habits make that worth it.

Before the show:

  • Write down two or three decisions you want to make (pick a field service tool, compare two heat pump lines, find a new distributor) and book the vendor meetings ahead of time.
  • Download the exhibitor list and floor map. At a show the size of AHR Expo, you will not find anything by wandering.
  • Tell your customers. A short post like “Our team is at AHR Expo this week seeing the newest equipment” builds trust, and our free HVAC social media generator can draft a week of these posts in a minute.

At the show:

  • Take real photos of your team at booths and in sessions. They make better Google Business Profile updates and social posts than stock images.
  • Split up if two of you go: one on the floor, one in the education sessions, compare notes each night.

After the show:

  • Follow up with every vendor within a week, while they still remember you.
  • Turn what you learned into one useful post for homeowners, for example what the new equipment means for their next replacement. That is content your competitors will not have.
  • If you made a software or equipment decision, write down why. It makes next year’s show cheaper because you will know exactly what you are looking for.

For contractors: the shows do not bring you customers by themselves. What brings customers is what you do with the trip afterward: better equipment knowledge, better tools, and real content that shows homeowners you invest in your trade.

Plan Your 2027 Before Your Competitors Do

The short version: pick one equipment show and one business event, book them before the January to April rush, and go with a written list of decisions you want to make.

If you run a residential shop: Service World Expo this November or the ACCA Conference in March will pay back faster than any product launch, because they deal with pricing, hiring, and marketing.

If you are commercial or industrial: MSCA, MCAA, the MEP Innovation Conference, and IIAR are where your peers and your specifiers will be.

We will update this page as the 2027 dates for Pantheon, Nexstar, PHCC CONNECT, Service World Expo, and Women in HVACR are announced.

Data Sources: Every date, city, and venue in this guide comes from the organizers’ official websites and event pages (AHR Expo, ASHRAE, ACCA, MCAA and MSCA, SMACNA, IIAR, IHACI, InstallerSHOW, Service World Expo, HARDI, and the Building Performance Association), checked in October 2026. Where an official page did not exist yet, the card names the source we used. Attendance and exhibitor numbers are the organizers’ own published figures.

Frequently Asked Questions About HVAC Trade Shows and Conferences in 2026-2027

What is the biggest HVAC trade show in 2027?

AHR Expo, January 25-27, 2027, at McCormick Place in Chicago. The organizer expects 1,900 exhibitors, 50,000 attendees, and 350 speakers. It is co-sponsored by ASHRAE and AHRI, and the ASHRAE Winter Conference runs alongside it (January 23-27).

March 10-12, 2027, at National Harbor, just outside Washington, DC. It is built for HVACR business owners and leaders, with five educational tracks over three days and ACCA Advocacy Day alongside it.

Service World Expo (November 9-11, 2026, Las Vegas) and the ACCA Conference (March 10-12, 2027) focus on running and growing a residential service business. The one-day ACCA Smart Tech Summit (November 2, 2026, Frisco, Texas) is a good short option if your main question is AI and field service software.

Yes. InstallerSHOW New York (March 2-3, 2027, Javits Center) offers free tickets, and the same ticket covers New York Build Expo on the same floor. Regional association shows are often low-cost too, so check your local ACCA, PHCC, or IHACI-style chapter calendar.

The MSCA Annual Education Conference (November 8-11, 2026, Austin) for the service side, the MCAA Convention (March 7-11, 2027, San Diego), the MEP Innovation Conference (January 25-27, 2027, Tampa), and the SMACNA Convention for sheet metal firms. ASHRAE new Data Center and AI Integration Conference (March 3-5, 2027, Dallas) is aimed at data center cooling work.

It is if you go with a plan. Pick two or three decisions you want to make, book vendor meetings ahead of time, and turn the trip into content for your customers afterward. Without a plan, a three-day show mostly costs you three days of jobs.
