TL;DR: A home service business does not need 20 marketing tools. It needs four or five that cover the basics: a free Google Business Profile, field service software that books and follows up on jobs, a way to get reviews, call tracking once you pay for ads, and a simple setup for social posts and email. This list covers 20 tools in nine categories, with the price each vendor listed on its own website on October 23, 2026, what each one is good at, and which trades it fits best. The section on picks by trade at the end shows a starting stack for landscaping, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, roofing and electrical companies.

A note on numbers: prices change often and many vendors run promotions, so treat every price here as a starting point and confirm it on the vendor’s page before you buy. Results quoted below come from the vendors themselves. No vendor paid to be on this list and we have no affiliate deals with any of them.

Already on Jobber or Housecall Pro? Start here

  • Jobber: the website, online booking and Google Business Profile optimization are included in every plan, so set those up first. Review requests, email campaigns and referrals need the Marketing Suite add-on ($99/mo). Do not pay for a separate review tool on top of it.
  • Housecall Pro: review requests, online booking (including from Google) and the AI Team are included from the Basic plan. Campaigns, a managed website and CSR AI call answering are add-ons without a listed price, so get those quotes in writing.
  • Either way: the next outside tool is usually call tracking, and only once you spend real money on ads.

In this guide: the 20 tools at a glance, a price chart, each tool by category, starter stacks by trade, questions to ask before you sign, and how we picked and checked the list.

What the paid tools cost to start

Chart: lowest paid plan for each tool that lists a US dollar price with monthly billing, as shown on the vendor’s pricing page on October 23, 2026. Annual billing is cheaper for most of them. Not shown: free tools (Google Business Profile, Search Console), quote-only tools (ServiceTitan, Podium), ad platforms where you set the budget (Local Services Ads, Nextdoor), tools whose page showed a non-US currency to us (Canva, Mailchimp, ChatGPT) and CompanyCam, which lists annual billing only.

Field service software and CRM: where your customer list lives

For most home service companies, the field service app is the center of marketing, because it holds every customer, job and estimate. The three big platforms now include review requests, online booking and email campaigns, so check what you already pay for before buying a separate tool.

1

Jobber

Scheduling, quotes, invoicing and payments, with a free website and online booking on every plan. The Marketing Suite add-on sends automatic review requests after each job, email campaigns to past customers and referral rewards. An AI Receptionist add-on answers calls and texts.

  • Best for: Owner-operators and small crews in landscaping, lawn care, cleaning, plumbing, HVAC and electrical (Jobber lists 48 industries)
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Core $49/mo for 1 user with monthly billing ($21/mo billed annually). Marketing Suite add-on $99/mo, AI Receptionist $29/mo, extra users $29/mo each. 14-day free trial
  • Vendor-reported: “Jobber customers using Marketing Tools grow 2x faster than those who don’t” (Jobber, compared with customers without Marketing Suite and Jobber Website)
  • Watch out: Review requests and email campaigns are in the paid Marketing Suite, not the base plan

2

Housecall Pro

Field service software with review requests and online booking from the Basic plan, including booking from Google. Marketing tools add email and SMS campaigns; websites and CSR AI (an AI that answers calls and chats 24/7) are add-ons. The AI Team is included in every plan.

  • Best for: Small and mid-size HVAC, plumbing, electrical and cleaning companies
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Basic $79/mo with monthly billing or $59/mo billed annually (1 user); Essentials $189 or $149 (5 users); Max $329 or $299 (8 users). Add-on prices (campaigns, website, CSR AI) are not listed. 14-day free trial
  • Vendor-reported: Pros increase monthly revenue through Housecall Pro “by more than 35% after their first year” (vendor average)
  • Watch out: Ask for add-on prices in writing; the pricing page does not show them

Official site and pricing

3

ServiceTitan

Field service software built for larger trade companies. Its Marketing Pro add-on builds email and direct mail lists from your own data, such as unsold estimates or expiring memberships, manages reviews and listings on 60+ sites, and shows return on Google ads.

  • Best for: HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies with several trucks and an office team, especially those selling memberships
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Quote only. ServiceTitan prices per technician; Marketing Pro is a separate paid product
  • Vendor-reported: Customers have seen “up to a 10% increase in close rates on unsold estimates” (ServiceTitan, customer not named)
  • Watch out: Too much software for a one- or two-truck shop; ask which marketing features are in your plan

Official site and pricing

4

Buildertrend

Project management for builders and remodelers with a sales pipeline: manage leads, send proposals, sign contracts online, and give clients a portal to follow the job. Every feature is included in one price, with unlimited users.

  • Best for: Remodelers and design-build firms running five or more projects a year
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Starts at $499/mo; the final price depends on annual construction volume and onboarding. 10% off when paid annually
  • Vendor-reported: “20,000+ builders” use it (Buildertrend)
  • Watch out: Built for project-based work, not quick service calls; it is a big step up in price from field service apps

Official site and pricing

5

HighLevel

A marketing CRM with texting and email campaigns, pipelines, a website and funnel builder, review management and optional AI that answers chats and calls. Many marketing agencies run their home service clients on it.

  • Best for: Companies that want automated follow-up for leads and old customers, often set up by an agency
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Starter $97/mo; Unlimited $297/mo (aimed at agencies). Texting, email and review AI are billed by usage; AI Employee add-on $50 or $97/mo. 14-day free trial
  • Vendor-reported: No home service results published on the pricing page
  • Watch out: It is a toolbox, not a finished system. Budget setup time, or have someone who knows it set it up

Reviews and listings: what people see before they call

Homeowners compare reviews before they call. Reviews also feed AI search: our guide to showing up in AI answers covers why review and listing sites matter there too.

6

Google Business Profile

Your free listing on Google Search and Maps. Add services, photos, hours and posts, reply to reviews, and see which searches found you and how many people called.

  • Best for: Every home service business, first thing to set up
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Free. Google says: “creating a Business Profile and listing your business on Google is free”
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: Keep your name, phone and service area the same everywhere else you are listed

Official site and pricing

7

NiceJob

Sends review requests by text and email after each job, puts review widgets on your website, and on the Pro plan runs referral campaigns, email broadcasts and AI-written review replies.

  • Best for: Owners who want more Google reviews without asking by hand
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Starter $75/mo; Pro $125/mo (USD, monthly). Website add-on $99/mo plus $199 setup. 14-day free trial
  • Vendor-reported: No figures on the pricing page
  • Watch out: If your field service app already sends review requests, compare before paying for both

Official site and pricing

8

Podium

Texting, webchat, review requests, payments and a shared inbox for calls, texts and social messages. An AI Employee add-on replies to leads 24/7, qualifies them and books appointments.

  • Best for: Companies with a lot of web and text leads and slow replies
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Quote only (“talk to our sales team”); AI Employee is an add-on to any plan
  • Vendor-reported: “36 seconds to respond” and “45% higher conversion with 24/7 lead coverage” (Podium); “60,000+ businesses”
  • Watch out: Get the full monthly price and contract length before the demo ends

Call tracking: which ads make the phone ring

Most home service leads still come in by phone. Without call tracking, you can see clicks on your ads but not which ones turned into booked jobs.

9

CallRail

Gives each ad, listing or mailer its own phone number, records and transcribes calls, and shows which source each call came from. Higher plans add form tracking and AI call analysis that tags booked appointments and scores leads.

  • Best for: Any company spending on Google Ads, Local Services Ads, Facebook or direct mail
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Lead Tracking $50/mo (5 local numbers, 250 minutes, call transcription); Lead Tracking Complete $95/mo (adds form tracking); Lead Conversion $150/mo (Premium Conversation Intelligence). Save up to 10% yearly. 14-day free trial
  • Vendor-reported: “225,000+ businesses trust CallRail” (CallRail homepage)
  • Watch out: Check your state’s call recording consent rules before recording

SEO tools: getting found on Google without paying per click

Most searches for a home service include a city or “near me,” so local rankings in the map results matter more than broad national keywords. Start with the free tool, add a paid one when you are ready to track rankings by town. If you would rather hand this off, see our local SEO services.

10

Google Search Console

Shows which searches your website appears for, how often people click, which pages Google has indexed, and emails you when Google finds a problem with your site.

  • Best for: Every business with a website; ask your web designer to give you access
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Free. Google calls it “a free service offered by Google”
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: It covers your website only, not your Google Business Profile or map rankings

Official site and pricing

11

BrightLocal

Local SEO software: tracks map and search rankings across a grid of points in your service area, audits your Google Business Profile, finds and cleans up directory listings, and (on Grow) sends review requests and monitors reviews. It also tracks how you show up in AI search.

  • Best for: Owners or office managers who want to see map rankings town by town
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Track $41/mo, Manage $54/mo, Grow $65/mo for 1 location with monthly billing ($31, $40 and $49 billed annually). Citation building is paid per use. 14-day free trial
  • Vendor-reported: No figures on the pricing page
  • Watch out: The citation builder costs extra on top of the plan

Official site and pricing

12

Semrush

Keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking and site audits, now with AI search visibility reports. Useful for finding what customers search in your trade and which competitors rank for it.

  • Best for: Companies with someone in-house doing SEO, or owners checking an agency’s work
  • Price (October 23, 2026): SEO plan $139/mo, or $117.33/mo billed annually; free plan with 10 reports a day. 7-day free trial on paid plans
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: Built for marketers; most single-location shops get more from Search Console plus BrightLocal

Ads and local lead sources

Paid lead sources can fill a schedule fast, and cost money from day one. Track every one of them with call tracking so you know your cost per booked job.

13

Google Local Services Ads

Ads at the top of Google for local service searches, with a Google Verified badge after screening. You are charged for leads (calls, messages, bookings) rather than clicks, and you can track lead credits and give lead feedback in your account. You can pause the ads when you are too busy.

  • Best for: Trades on Google’s eligible list: HVAC, plumber, electrician, roofing, landscaper, lawn care, general contractor, tree services, water damage restoration and more
  • Price (October 23, 2026): You set the budget. You pay per lead (a call, message or booking from the ad), not per click. A lead is not a booked job, so track cost per booked job; cost per lead varies by trade and city
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: Verification takes time, and leads compete with other verified pros on the same screen

Official site and pricing

14

Nextdoor

A free Business Page and free posts to nearby neighbors, plus paid ads in the neighborhood newsfeed targeted by location, demographics and interests. Neighbors can recommend your business.

  • Best for: Residential service work where neighbor word of mouth matters: lawn care, cleaning, plumbing, electrical, handyman
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Nextdoor advertises “small business advertising for less than $5/day.” You pay 30 days upfront (daily budget x 30), renewing monthly until you cancel
  • Vendor-reported: “About 50 to 60% of my customers are through Nextdoor” (Bill Evans, Flowing Current Electric, on Nextdoor’s ad page)
  • Watch out: Monthly charge is taken upfront; set a calendar reminder to review it

Official site and pricing

Social media and design tools

Photos of real jobs, crews and before-and-afters do better than stock images. These two tools make the posts and schedule them, so posting does not depend on a free evening.

15

Canva

Templates for flyers, door hangers, yard signs and social posts, with a brand kit for your logo and colors. Pro adds AI tools such as resize, translate and background removal, plus social post scheduling.

  • Best for: Owners and office staff making their own marketing materials
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Free plan with 1.6M+ templates and up to 20 AI uses; Pro and Business are paid, and Canva shows prices in your local currency
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: Check phone numbers and license numbers on every design before printing

Official site and pricing

16

Buffer

Schedules posts to Facebook, Instagram, Google Business Profile, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and more from one calendar, with an AI assistant to rewrite and repurpose posts.

  • Best for: Companies posting a few times a week on two or three channels
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Free for up to 3 channels; Essentials $5/mo per channel; Team $10/mo per channel
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: Nextdoor is not on Buffer’s channel list; post there directly

Email marketing

Your past customers are the cheapest leads you have. A short email before the season starts (AC tune-ups in spring, gutter cleaning in fall, spring cleanups for lawn care) often books work without any ad spend. Check your field service software first: Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan all offer email campaigns.

17

Mailchimp

Email campaigns, templates and automations such as welcome or reminder emails. SMS is an add-on on paid plans in some countries.

  • Best for: Companies whose field service app has no email campaigns, or who want more design control
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Free plan up to 250 contacts and 500 emails a month; paid plans priced by number of contacts, with a 14-day trial
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: Most home service lists pass 250 contacts quickly, so expect to pay; import only customers who agreed to hear from you

Photo, estimate and sales tools that double as marketing

Two tools on this list are not marketing software on paper but do a lot of marketing work: job photos become posts and review requests, and instant estimates turn website visitors into leads.

18

CompanyCam

Job site photo and video app with AI reports and checklists. Its Marketing Suite turns project photos into Google posts, social content and review requests automatically.

  • Best for: Roofing, remodeling, restoration and landscaping companies that sell with before-and-after photos
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Core $63/mo, Crew $129/mo, Scale $199/mo, billed annually in USD; extra users $29. Marketing Suite is an add-on
  • Vendor-reported: “285,000+ pros using CompanyCam on 79 Million jobs”; Reliant Roofing reports saving $50k a year in employee costs (CompanyCam)
  • Watch out: Confirm the Marketing Suite price; the pricing page shows two figures without saying which is monthly

Official site and pricing

19

Roofr

Roof measurement reports, proposals, a roofing CRM and payments. The Instant Estimator add-on lets homeowners get a first price on your website, which captures the lead. Roofr also sells websites and an AI receptionist as add-ons.

  • Best for: Roofing companies that want faster quotes and more website leads
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Free Starter plan with measurement reports at $19 each; Essentials $249/mo and Scale $349/mo with monthly billing; Instant Estimator $149/mo billed monthly
  • Vendor-reported: No figures on the pricing page
  • Watch out: Some yearly prices on the page do not add up; confirm the total at checkout

AI writing help

For a deeper look at AI software (call answering, sales coaching, estimating), see our HVAC AI tools guide; most of those tools work for other trades too.

20

ChatGPT

A general AI assistant. Good for drafting review replies, seasonal emails, service page text, ad variations and plain explanations of repair versus replace for customers.

  • Best for: Every home service business, as a writing helper
  • Price (October 23, 2026): Free plan; paid plans are priced by country. OpenAI notes the Go plan may include ads
  • Vendor-reported: Not applicable
  • Watch out: Do not paste customer names, addresses or payment details, and check every fact and price before you publish

Official site and pricing

Plus one free tool from us: we built free AI social media post generators for home service trades. Pick your trade, service and season and it writes ready-to-post captions and post ideas for Facebook, Instagram and Google Business Profile, no sign-up needed. It is ours, so it is not counted in the 20 above. Generators for landscaping, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electricians, painting, tree service, pest control, garage doors, and the full list of 21 trades.

Every trade below should start with the same free base: Google Business Profile, Google Search Console and a Canva free account. The table shows what to add on top; read each row left to right, which is the order to add them. Prices are as listed on October 23, 2026.

Landscaping and lawn care

Landscaping is recurring, neighborhood work: the same streets, every week, for a season. That makes Nextdoor and yard signs unusually strong, and it makes the field service app the main marketing tool, because it holds the list you email before spring cleanups and fall leaf removal. Jobber and Housecall Pro both list landscaping and lawn care, and both include online booking. Landscaper and lawn care are on Google’s Local Services Ads list. Take photos on every design-build job: CompanyCam lists landscaping among its trades, and those photos sell the next hardscape or planting job.

Remodeling

Remodeling jobs are large, slow to close and sold on trust, so the tools that matter are the ones that manage a long sales process and show past work. Buildertrend keeps leads, proposals, contracts and the client portal in one place and lists remodelers as a builder type. CompanyCam turns job photos into a portfolio and Google posts. Reviews matter more per job than in service trades because each customer is worth more; ask every finished client. Google’s Local Services Ads list has “General contractor” but no separate remodeling category, so check whether your services qualify.

HVAC

HVAC marketing runs on seasons, maintenance plans and replacement quotes. The best marketing software for HVAC companies is usually the field service platform, because that is where membership renewals and unsold estimates live. ServiceTitan Marketing Pro builds email and direct mail lists from exactly those records; Housecall Pro and Jobber cover smaller shops with review requests and email campaigns. Add CallRail as soon as you pay for ads: call volume swings with heat waves and cold snaps, and you want to know which source booked the jobs. HVAC is on Google’s Local Services Ads list. For AI tools specific to HVAC, see our HVAC AI tools guide.

Plumbing

Plumbing leads are often emergencies, and the customer calls the first company that answers. Spend first on being reachable: Local Services Ads (plumber is on the list) with call tracking, and an AI answering option for nights and weekends, such as Jobber’s $29/mo AI Receptionist or Housecall Pro’s CSR AI. Drain and water heater work repeats, so keep customers in your field service app and send reminders.

Roofing

Roofing buyers want a price fast, often after a storm. Roofr’s Instant Estimator gives a website visitor a first quote and captures the lead, and its free plan sells measurement reports at $19 each, so you can try it without a subscription. CompanyCam photo reports show homeowners and insurance adjusters the damage. Roofing is on Google’s Local Services Ads list. Because roofing jobs are big, a few more reviews can change which company a homeowner calls; ask after every job.

Electricians

Electrical work is a mix of small service calls and bigger jobs like panel upgrades and EV charger installs, mostly from local homeowners. Neighborhood channels fit well: on Nextdoor’s own ad page, Bill Evans of Flowing Current Electric says about 50 to 60% of his customers come through Nextdoor (one owner’s experience, not a typical result). Electrician is on the Local Services Ads list. Use BrightLocal or Search Console to see which towns you rank in and which you do not.

Questions to ask before you sign

  • Does this connect to the field service software we use, or will someone retype customers and jobs?
  • What does it cost after the first year, and after any promotional price ends?
  • Which features in the demo are add-ons, and what does each add-on cost?
  • Is the contract monthly or annual, and what does it cost to leave?
  • Who owns our customer list, reviews and call recordings if we cancel?
  • For texting and calls: how does it handle customer consent and call recording rules in our state?
  • Can you give us two references in our trade, at our size?

Measure every tool on booked jobs after 60 to 90 days, not on clicks or messages sent. The math is simple: add the month’s ad spend for a source to the tool’s cost, then divide by the jobs booked from that source. That is your cost per booked job; keep the tools that lower it. If you would like someone to connect these tools and run the follow-up for you, that is what our CRM and marketing automation team does.

How we picked and checked these tools

We grouped tools by the marketing jobs a home service company does every week: book and follow up on jobs, get reviews, get found on Google, track calls, run ads, post on social media, email past customers and quote fast. In each group we picked tools that are built for, or widely used by, home service businesses, plus the free Google tools every company should have. We opened every vendor’s own website and pricing page on October 23, 2026 and took prices, features and results from there.

  • Prices are the listed price for monthly billing in US dollars unless stated. Where a page showed us a non-US currency (Canva, Mailchimp, ChatGPT), we did not convert it and only describe the plans.
  • Results marked vendor-reported come from the vendor’s own website. They show what is possible, not what you will get.
  • Left out: tools whose pricing or feature pages we could not open this week, including JobNimbus and Houzz Pro, which are both popular with roofers and remodelers. We will add them when we can check them on their own sites.
  • No vendor paid to be included, and we have no affiliate links.

The bottom line

Start with the free base, put your customers in one field service app, and turn on review requests. Add call tracking before you spend real money on ads, then add one paid lead source at a time. For most small home service companies that is four or five tools, not twenty, and each one should earn its keep in booked jobs within three months.

About the sources: every price and feature above was read on the vendor’s own website on October 23, 2026 and is linked in that tool’s entry. Results quoted are vendor-reported. Local Services Ads trade categories are from Google’s Local Services Ads page. No vendor paid to be included and we have no affiliate deals.

Frequently Asked Questions About Home Service Marketing Tools

What marketing tools does a home service business need?

Start with a free Google Business Profile and Google Search Console, field service software that books jobs and sends review requests (Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan), and a free design tool like Canva. Add call tracking such as CallRail before you spend much on ads, then add paid lead sources one at a time.

For most HVAC companies it is the field service platform, because it holds membership and unsold-estimate data. ServiceTitan Marketing Pro builds campaigns from that data for larger shops; Housecall Pro and Jobber cover smaller ones. Add CallRail to see which ads book jobs.

On October 23, 2026, entry plans with monthly billing ranged from $5 per channel (Buffer) and $41 (BrightLocal) to $499 (Buildertrend). Google Business Profile and Search Console are free, and ServiceTitan and Podium quote after a demo.

Google Business Profile and Google Search Console are free. Canva, Buffer (up to 3 channels), Mailchimp (up to 250 contacts), Semrush (10 reports a day), Roofr (Starter plan) and ChatGPT all have free plans.

Usually not at first. Both store customers and offer review requests and email campaigns. A marketing CRM like HighLevel makes sense when you need automated text follow-up for many leads or an agency runs your campaigns.

You pay per lead, such as a call or message from the ad, not per click. A lead is not always a booked job. You set your own budget, can pause ads when busy and can track lead credits in your account. HVAC, plumbers, electricians, roofers, landscapers and general contractors are on the eligible list.

Roofing companies get the most from tools that speed up quotes and show proof: Roofr for measurements and a website Instant Estimator, CompanyCam for photo reports, plus Local Services Ads and review requests.
